We all can relate to the ever-new classic ‘The Gambler’ that most parents use as a lesson grabber to their young ones.  It is easy to contextualize the song all through life’s tribulations.

‘The Gambler’ released in 1987 was featured in five popular movies, while some of his other hits also inspired small-screen features.

Through Kenny Rogers, many people got to appreciate what romantic love meant despite color, religion or upbringing.

In 2017 during his farewell tribute concert in Nashville, United States, Rogers blessed his fans for the last time with a performance featuring his good friend and fellow country music singer Dolly Parton.

As the world mourns the icon, one fact remains that his music played a bigger role in bringing people together.

He will also be remembered for featuring in the ‘We Are the World’ song in 1985; a song that was to create awareness on the need to help each other.

Following his demise, Rogers has been mourned by many global icons including Parton and musician Lionel Richie.

“I’ve had so many wonderful times with my friend Kenny, but above all the music and the success, I love him as a wonderful man and a true friend. So you be safe with God and Just Know that I will always love you, Dolly,” posted Dolly Parton.

“Today I lost one of my closest friends. So much laughter so many adventures to remember, my heart is broken. My prayers go out to Kenny’s family,” said Lionel Richie.

As you rest Kenny, know you played your role in the world. Mdundo celebrates your well-lived life. Rest in Peace.
