It is a well-known fact that Music videos are now as important as the songs in reaching new markets and sustaining the tempo of air play.

And for the past years, It had become a trend for Ugandan artists to work with foreign or international music video producers, raising questions whether they are losing trust in the local directors.

If a video was shot and directed by an international videographer, you would be considered rich, uptown and successful. We remember when Bebe Cool flew to Kenya to shoot his 'Love You Everyday' video with popular Nigerian director, Clarance Peters (Capital Dream Pictures) and to South Africa for his 'Everywhere I go' with God Father Productions. Other artists like Eddy Kenzo have also sought international productions leaving out the local directors.

But the Ugandan Music Industry has transformed over the years, evidence is the quality of videos that are now key components of such transformation.

Mpaka Records boss, Ykee Benda believes our videographers have upped their game and he does not need to fly to Nigeria to look for this top quality material anymore. This was after radio presenters in an interview he had attended to compared his old and latest music videos.

"I no longer need to shoot a video with Nigerians anymore. As in I don’t need to travel to Nigeria to hire their celebrated videographers because our very videographers and directors have hugely stepped up on their picture quality art. Our fans no longer complain poor pictures as compared to the past." he said in an interview with KFM.

The 'Turn Up Di Vibe' hit maker now believes the high-quality videos can now safely compete in both he local and international markets.
