GHANA: Kwaw Kese Fumes at Popcaan’s ‘Public’ Smoking Video

Ghanaian rapper and hiplife artiste, Kwaw Kese has expressed sentiments about a viral video of Jamaican superstar, Popcaan, who was spotted smoking weed in the full glare of the public and the Ghana Police.

In the video, the Jamaican dancehall artiste was seen smoking the substance which is illegal in Ghana while residents of Nima, a suburb in Accra wastched on and chanted his name.

What was surprising about the video is the group of policemen who were seen escorting his entourage whiles he pops out of his car roof and comfortably smokes the substance in front of the Police escort.

That part of the whole situation raised various concerns on various social media platforms as users went haywire and lambasted the Ghana Police officials for not taking action against him as the substance is considered illegal in the country.

During these outbursts, one social media user tagged Kwaw Kese who was pissed over the video and the inability of the Police to take the necessary action since marijuana continues to be an illegal substance in Ghana and the laws stated that anyone found using it within the boundaries of the country had to be accosted and prosecuted according to the laws of Ghana and therefore queried why the Jamaican star was not arrested for what he did in front of the Policemen.

His anger was also due to the fact that, in 2013, Kwaw Kese, was caught, arrested and put behind bars for smoking the same substance in the public while he was in Kumasi for a show.

“Only in Ghana foreigners Can fuck up like this. When @kwawkese smoked in public he was arrested. So this means our Law set only to control on the citizens but foreigners are free To Go...the most painful part is Ghana police . None of them was able to speak the truth out because of the small coins which will be given out ... Ooh Ghana,” he captioned the video on Instagram.

Kwaw Kese is well known for his hit album Abodam 2007, for which he won five awards at the 2008 edition of the Ghana Music Awards.'
