The Weeknd Debuts New Sound and New Music, 'Blinding Lights' for the Weekend

Abel, The Weeknd has been giving us snippets of his new album, single after single and he is a different man through this project. He debuted his new single some hours into Friday dubbed ‘Blinding Lights’ and it too is a very new sound for Abel. He introduced us to his new look on the TIFF red carpet a month ago and that is what he is using for this project.
He is very experimental with his music and every album/EP sounds different from the previous, even if so slightly. Blinding Lights is very pop and in a very electric and disco type of way. The Weeknd samples sounds from the 80s disco era in this new single.
We all know the Weeknd for his soft voice and using his lyrics to reach into his inner demons. He delivers these two, very well in Blinding Lights. His voice takes shape of the beat and he lets his lyrics do the talking.
Blinding Lights has also been picked by the Mercedes Benz team in its promotion for its new electric car; EQC 400 4MATIC.
I don’t know how your weekend is starting out but The Weeknd sounds like a good starting point…get blinded.
