Abi Ocia is one of the new age artists who is carving out an almost very alternative style of music that refuses to be boxed in any particular genre. Abi Ocia also has a very unique sound in the context of her voice and arrangements. She has then used this to create her debut EP, ‘Where Are You?’
The five track EP has no collaborations and every song feels different from the other yet Abi keeps it together. True to its title, the EP sounds like Abi Ocia searching for a soul within her and being at a place that almost feels like home. This you can feel in the serenity in her voice and a whole lot of spirituality in the arrangement of the lyrics and the instrumentation.
Abi Ocia uses a signature style in her music where she lets her voice rule on an almost silent beat through the verse and the beat becomes more busy into the hook/chorus to marry and meet her voice at whatever point. This style is very apparent through the EP. She uses her head voice, belts out when she needs to and keeps her voice ruling over every beat, beautifully and melodically.
Abi Ocia is definitely one of the best vocalists and truest artists of our time. This EP has all the depth and beauty the industry has never known it needed.
