Since late 2018, the Gengetone wave has taken over the Kenya airwaves with their party filled vibe. This begs, the question ‘Is Kenyan hiphop dead?’. Skeme Music have a contrary opinion to this question.
Skeme Music is a fast rising Kenya hiphop group consisting of Chale Slim and Jan Christian.The duo: Jan Christian is a producer, rapper and actor while Chale Slim is a rapper and TV/Radio host. The two tag team on tracks and bring out the best in each other with their diversity and talents. Skeme Music’s sound weaves Hiphop, Dancehall, Afro Music and Urban Progressive Sounds.

The duo aim to entertain and educate as their produce awesome and conscious music which is far from the norm of gengetone. Recently Skeme Music dropped a hot banger dubbed ‘Kingdom’. The Big Tune aims to motivate the hustlers to think big and work hard to achieve their wildest dreams. The two embed the hiphop track with notable lyrics ‘Napata hiyo pesa,Napata hiyo Nyumba , Napata hiyo nyumba’ ‘Nataka kuishi maisha ya kifalme’ this translates to ‘I am getting that money,house and car’ ‘I want to live like royalty’.
Chale and Jan rip the beat to shreds with finesse and witty wordplay to produce a work of art dubbed ‘Kingdom’. The two wordsmith’s have other notable tracks; ‘Mr Polisi’, ‘Kibera’ and ‘Nupita’.
