Kirk Franklin boycotting Dove Awards and TBN following their censoring of police brutality

Kirk Franklin released his album ‘Love Theory’ some months ago and this won him a Dove Award for Gospel Artist of the Year 2019. The ever bubbly gospel artist is now boycotting the Awards until they make some changes within their system and the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) which airs the award shows.

In 2016, Kirk won the same award and during his acceptance speech, he spoke on the police brutality against the black community. During the airing of the show on TBN, that part of his speech was edited out. He however spoke to the Dove Awards committee to express his displeasure and they promised to not repeat it.

Fast forward now in 2019, during his acceptance speech at the award show, Kirk spoke on the issue once more following the killing of Atatiana Jefferson. During the airing of the show though, that part of his speech was edited out, a repeat of 2016.

Kirk has now vowed to boycott the Award show and the Network seeing that they have not cared to respond to him and he feels like they talk away a part of what is shaping the black culture history.
