FKA Twigs releases 'Home With You' video

by Kabura Ng'ang'a

FKA Twigs has never been your regular musician. She pushes the edge and makes alternative hauntingly beautiful enough to catch your attention. This is no different in her most recent video of her song ‘Home With You’.

Home with you is about losing something/someone integral in your life. Twigs decides to make it about losing herself and the will to get back to a her she knew. The instrumentation is very soft that it feels almost absent all through the song. Twigs marries this with soft but robotic vocals that then break into a chorale set piece into the chorus. The verses of the song flow like a poetry recital backed by robotic autotune.

The self-directed video is very alternative with the colours, clothes and props used in it. It starts in a party that has a queer feel to it through the non-binary pieces and make-up present. The video carries with it the frustration of loss through Twigs’ vocals and the shots of frustrated and almost cultic dancing and flow-movements.

There is home that Twigs is forever creating for her fans and this video feels about the right point.
