Jamaican Dancehall Legend 'Louie Rankin' dead following a car crash

It is a sad day for the dancehall community and Jamaica at large following the death of one of its legendary artists, Louie Rankin. His family announced of his passing this morning. The Grammy award winner was involved in a car crash in Canada that involved a truck.

He was popurlarly known for his hit songs such as Typewriter (1992), Stretch out and many more. He was ‘the original don dada’ trail blazer. Besides his music, he was also well known for his movie roles such as in ‘Belly’.

The family has been receiving an outpouring amount of condolences message from different people and other artists such as Safaree and Tory Lanez. We continue wishing them the serenity they need to get through this time and may Rankin’s soul rest in peace.
