Music world tours keep excluding Africa as tour stops

by Kabura Ng'ang'a

We have been following Jidenna for a long time through the making of this his new album, 85 To Africa. Jidenna talked about how the whole process of making the album was his journey back to Africa both physically and spiritually.

Yesterday he finally released his tour dates and stops and just like most artists, when they say that they are going for a world tour it always excludes Africa. We have watched many artists after the release of their albums say that they are going to tour with their albums but they don’t make a stop-over to Africa.

Africa on the other hand consumes so much music outside of Africa and very little of our music is consumed outside. We have also been seeing many artists from Africa only consider it a tour if they have tour stops outside of Africa. Like in the case of Burna, not many Africa countries are slotted for his African Giant tour. Now for Jidenna, no African country has been slotted as a tour stop.

Many people have questioned both Burna and Jidenna about their decisions to not make stops in Africa. Burna did say that he plans to make a stop in Nairobi and other African cities have been added to the tour. Jidenna had a few followers notice that Africa was missing and they questioned it. He responded with a soon response and we really hope it will be soon.

In the meantime though, we keep enjoying 85 To Africa.
