TRAVIS SCOTT MAD AT CARDI'S GRAMMY RAP ALBUM OF THE YEAR WIN

by Kabura Ng'ang'a

Months after the Grammys, there is the controversy that Travis Scott was mad about Cardi’s Invasion of Privacy beating his Astroworld for Rap Album of the Year. This is after the release of his Netflix documentary, Travis Scott: Look Mom I Can Fly.

Travis Scott sparked this in the documentary that he worked extra hard after his 2016 album failed to even make it for a nomination. He then worked so hard that in 2018, Astroworld was making the best sales at a point and it earned a nomination against Cardi’s Invasion of Privacy.

Cardi then went on to explain how she worked hard as well to have her album released and as good as it was. She went on to say that she was depressed and pregnant and only caught on sleep in the studio couch. She argued that rappers just use her name for features and chasing clout.

Travis Scott has gone on to clear the air that he was not mad at Cardi winning. He was only disappointed that despite his hard work on the album, he didn’t clinch the award. It begs to ask the question, just how big of a deal are awards for an artist’s career?
