KWAME RIGII IN CONCERT; LOVE IS THE INGREDIENT

Sundays are chill days that most people want to spend indoors and especially during this cold and rainy season. On this past Sunday however, a lot was happening and people were out here to experience it all. Kwame Rigii was one of the people who had put together an event for his fandom.

Love is the Ingredient was Kwame’s idea of bringing his fandom together and treating them to a mellow love-filled Sunday afternoon at Turi a Mumbi, Tigoni. Tigoni welcomed people with rain but everyone was ready with their colourful regalia and boots. The sacred place had a simple set up with the stage and a couple of stands and free muratina for everyone.

Ayrosh opened up the show with his rasp-husky voice treating the people to a short set. He then introduced Kwame to the stage. Kwame, as he always does started his set with a prayer through song. He then went on to treat people to a full set of his own songs and covers in Kikuyu for the audience. The elated audience sang along, danced, recorded and jammed hard with Kwame. He performed with his children at some point and his son went on to join the band by acting drummer for a song in the set-list. He was later joined by Ayrosh after the show ended and they went on to treat people to a mugiithi session with Kikuyu oldies.

This was a colourful and spiritual event for the people that Kwame created and it will only get bigger for his next event.
