It has been a Hot Girl Summer and as it is coming to a close, Megan Thee Stallion is facing some controversy on this. On Monday night, she won a VMA award for the anthem featuring Nicki Minaj on the pre-show stage.
Now, the industry is not too pleased with MTV for this decision. The decision begins with even allowing for the nomination of this anthem. Hot Girl Summer is yet to have a video put out yet it was nominated for the Video Music Awards. It was a fan voted award and so it winning is nothing to be debated. However, MTV deciding to nominate the song had people feeling some type of way with arguments that there were videos that were more deserving.
Megan did respond to people saying that the fans felt this for an anthem for the summer and that is how she bagged the award, rightfully. MTV is yet to respond to all this and possibly clarify why the video-less jam was even nominated. But we all love the anthem for this season and it did turn into a phrase for the summer.
