The Original Hip-hop Queens

It’s a hot girl Friday or maybe the OG hip-hop ting. Yeap, today we wake to the release of Missy Elliot and Rapsody’s albums.

It has been 16 years since the legendary, original visionary and ever entertaining Missy Elliot released an album. The Iconology EP is Missy really reminding us who the queen has been and continues to be as she has been in this game for the longest time. All the beats and rhythms on the 5 tracks are very Missy, even in writing. She has definitely added to her set list on the VMA stage as she receives the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award in the coming weeks. It is an exciting album and I am sure the videos will be even hotter going by her lead single’s visuals, ‘Throwing It Back’.

Rapsody has been doing media rounds in anticipation of the release of her album ‘Eve’. She is giving us Hip-Hop basics on this album and reminds us on how legendary she is. She has legendary features on there with J. Cole, Queen Latifah and even samples 2pac. She reminds us how in tune and attentive she is on rhyme all through the album by throwing in some poetry and keeping her flow tight. This is what one listens to when they need to be taken back to ‘Pac/Biggie hip-hop.

Well, the queens are speaking and the world of hip-hop has to listen and we are here for it.
