The Music A-List Influence

By Kabura Ng'ang'a

In Hollywood and almost all other countries, musicians make up the largest percentage of the A-List celebrities. Being an A-list celebrity then means that whatever a musician will  wear is the gospel, whatever you drink you have endorsed, whatever you put out it is to be consumed sacredly, wherever you shop is where everyone should save up to go shop and really, whatever you touch is gold.

In ideal systems sometimes, your favourite musician will shape your political outlook and even alignment. In the case where Raila once used ‘Unbwogable’ for his presidential campaign, some people might have not been too keen on who was running for political seats but with that song on rotation, it became the biggest song and it made us all aware of Raila’s campaign and his campaign mantra and shaped the political alignment of some people.

With the war going on in Sudan, there are people who have been following it up only on social media. This becomes remotely possibly because their favourite musicians such as Rihanna have been very vocal about the situation there. On asking some people why they have changed their avis to blue, they will not give clear answers but they will just say that they noticed the A-listers have their avis blue too.

It is a good course to have musicians shape opinions for their fans and a great responsibility on them to always make sure that the issues of the world matter to them as they wish them to matter to their fans.
