South Africa has been winning and winning in music this week. Sho Madjozi took home a BET award and their very own, Ndlovu Youth Choir got 4 yeses to proceed to the next stage of America Got Talent. Their performance was nothing short of colourful and amazing which called for a standing ovation thereafter.
The Ndlovu Youth Choir is from Limpopo and has been in existence for a decade now, since 2009. They blew up in 2018 when they did their own rendition of Shape of you. They were drawn from the Ndlovu group that was formed in 1994. The music group is a social and help group for the youth in society.
Their choir conductor, Ralf Schmitt guided them through their performance of ‘My African Dream’. He explained this as a very situational song as it generally expressed their joy of finally being at an international platform against many odds. They danced and smiled all through the performance and had Simon Cowell describe it as the choir everyone had been waiting for on that stage and the competition.
