Femi Kuti to Open at AFCON

The organising committee for the 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON)  has announced that Nigeria’s legendary singer Femi Anikulipo Kuti will perform at the opening ceremony of the competition. The four time Grammy nominee will share the stage with Hakim from Egypt and Dobet Gnahore from Ivory Coast. The three international artists will sing “Metgamaeen” (We are together) produced by Synergy together. Femi will perform the song in English, Hakim in Arabic and Gnahore in French.

All the attention has turned to Egypt,Cairo where the biggest tournament on the continent will be held. It begins 21st June. Femi had previously performed at the opening ceremony of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. For those that don’t know the Afro beat artist ,his portfolio surely speaks for itself. The 2019 AFCON is set to kick off with the new 24 teams. Host, Egypt will play Zimbabwe in the opening match while Super Eagles take on Burundi.
