Kenya's Folk Fusion Artist Set To Release Debut EP - MURASTA
11 June 2019
Kenya’s Folk Fusion artist Ayrosh is set to release “MURASTA”, a 7-track groovy and eclectic EP that blends Gikuyu lyrics with an afro-house sound. Mũrasta embodies different impressions of Ayrosh in each song; the rebel, the lover, the free spirit, the storyteller and eminently the African son.
Ayrosh is a singer/songwriter with an uncanny sense of humor and a knack for storytelling. His music is an ode to home, the African continent and a blend of genres: R&B, Afro beats, and Mugithi, which he packages as “Folk Fusion.” His lyrics give us an insight into the adventures and mishaps he experiences in his daily life; they all intentionally have a lesson that we could all learn from and apply in our own lives. He is a passionate performing artist with a captivating stage presence and vocals in his live performances.
Speaking ahead of the release Ayrosh says, “Murasta is a story of resilience, love, protest and chasing dreams. It’s taken me two years to complete and it has to be my most daring project.”
Mũrasta is a collaboration with US-based Record Label - Waithaka Entertainment whilst borrowing the production skills of renowned producers such as Brackish, Festus, The Exchange Project, and DJ Mura. Recorded in Nairobi by Jay Mukasa of Tawala Beats, the EP was mixed & mastered by Giggz of 4reigner Music Group.
The EP release coincides with a launch concert to be held at Safaricom’s Michael Joseph Center on 14th June 2019 from 6 PM. Tickets are going for Ksh. 1,000 (inclusive a physical copy of the EP); available on http://bit.ly/2WpU5Fz
The EP will be available on all major digital streaming sites from 14th June.
