DONNSUBI's 'WINDFALL' Released on 1/09/2017

‘WindFall’ album is a combination of AfroHipHop and AfroDance performed against the backdrop of modern Popular Music. It comes with a much anticipation from a vibrant music producer turn artist Donnsubi as he releases his second studio album in Perth, Western Australia.

The beats, catchy melodies and outright open lyrics will get listeners to head bop and sing along to almost every tune on this 9 track solo album. From the opening song ‘Windfall (My Life)', the artist reminisces how far he has come to develop a professional career in music production and how he looks to continue on this path, “despite their lies, just eat your cake.” To the thought-provoking track ‘Pole Pole’, in which the artist recounts a story from a perspective of a victim of injustice whilst also offering empowering solution to stand up against the bully, “I should be me now...Instead of I leave town.”

This project is a unique exploration of universal multiculturalism themes such as Faith, Success, Love, Betrayal & Family through the use of modern music. Despite using his native Swahili mixed with the English language in some of the songs, you don’t need to be any kind of a language aficionado to appreciate the quality of the music.

‘WindFall’ is fully packed full of catchy choruses, and relentlessly danceable beats; this release is urgent, cultural-wise and cerebral, but it also has a wide appeal. Donnsubi stated that he, "made sure the listener will either enjoy the theme, the performance or at-least fall in love with the beats I have created for the project, if not the combination of all."

Say what you will about multiculturalism, it’s releases such as this that highlight the advantages of an interconnected world: the central protagonist taps into his personal link as far and wide as Tanzania, despite being based in Perth; there is a definite influence and emphasis from his native land of Africa in the music.

No matter what your background or musical persuasion, there are at least a handful of classics on this compilation. Songs like URight, Keep Ur Promise and If U Ever are going to stick in your head, dead set. This is a wonderful cerebral album I recommend it to all type of music lovers to get it into your playlist and crank it all the way up.
