NEW MUSIC (TANZANIA): Hapa Wakazi Tu by Wakazi Music

In anticipation of the release of his new album, Wakazi drops two singles in a week, to give the fans a glimpse of what's to come soon. "Hapa Wakazi Tu" is a lyrical barbed wire track that has Wakazi taking it back to the "Abacus" days with Bars & Punchlines to leave diehard fans demanding for more.

The catchy hook will surely be a treat to even non rap fans, thanks to the now renowned national slogan "Hapa Kazi Tu" which Wakazi playfully twisted, hoping to birth a national anthem in his own right. The borrowed opening lines (from Hashim Dogo) may be more than just paying homage, as he also reference him in the opening of the second verse through clever wordplay.

Hashim (now retired) who is the undisputed most technical emcee from Tanzania, laid the blueprint for the likes of Fid Q, Nikki Mbishi, One Incredible & others. Listening to "Hapa Wakazi Tu" it is clear that Wakazi wants to let Hashim & lyrical lovers (word to Uhhh) know that he is paying attention on the techniques of rhyming. Fresh off an upcountry region tour, this joint is also a celebration of a musical journey, and a laugh at critics, who said he couldn't do it. Hapa Wakazi Tu is the Swahili say, that's what the fans are going to be screaming when the Kisimani album drops.
