Who is Sola Allyson?

Sola Allyson-Obaniyi, popularly known as Sola Allyson, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. The songster was born into a Muslim family in Ikorodu, Lagos State around 1970.

Early Life and School

She has an impressive educational background; she attended Anglican Primary School then proceeded to Shams-el-deen Grammar School and later on to Government Technical College. After she received a certificate in Business Studies she took a step further to explore her talent by pursuing a course in Music Technology at The Polytechnic, Ibadan.

Sola Allyson started out as a professional backup singer. Her immense talent and mastery of her vocals saw her share stages with the likes of Daddy Showkey, Gbenga Adeboye, Pasuma, Obesere, and Yinka Ayefele. She gained extensive experience by working with celebrated musicians.

The songstress made her debut in the industry as an independent artist after she was called to work on a soundtrack for a film dubbed ‘Eji Owuro’. The success of the film saw the studio behind its production express interest in extending the soundtrack into a full album with Sola Allyson as the artist.

The release of the ‘Eji Owuro’ album in 2003 was a major turning point for the singer in her music career. The album was met with a lot of success. The songs on the first album went extremely viral across Nigeria and beyond earning the vocalist a spot in the Nigerian music industry. She dominated various music charts for months.

It is in the same year that she got married to Toyin Obainiyi. The two love birds met at a church choir and became friends before falling in love. The couple has three children. The singer keeps her personal life private and rarely shares details of her life on social media.

She proceeded to release her second studio album dubbed ‘Gbe Je F'ori ‘ in 2005. She followed it up with other albums namely; 'Ire in' in 2007, 'Im'oore' in 2009, 'Adun' in 2012, 'Ope' in 2015, 'Imuse' in 2018, 'Iri' in 2019, 'Isodotun' in 2021, and 'IMISI' in 2022. The albums cemented her reputation as a powerful vocalist and a top-ranking gospel star.
