Who is Tope Alabi?

Tope Alabi alias Ore ti o Common is a Nigerian gospel singer, composer, performer and actress. She was born on October 27, 1970 in Lagos Nigeria. She is the only daughter in a family of three children. She focuses on gospel music and is a graduate of Mass Communication from Polytechnic Ibadan.

How did Tope Alabi start her music career?

Before she started singing, she was a member of a comedy group dubbed Jesters International Comedy. She performed with the group for sometime before joining theatre groups in Lagos. While working with different theatre groups, Tope Alabi was able to make several films in her local Yoruba dialect. This made her popular and created a foundation for her music career.

She ventured into music in the 1980s with her amazing voice and uplifting messages taking the country by storm. Since then, she has been consistently releasing new songs and albums. To date, she is estimated to have composed over 300 musical works, making her one of the leading artists when it comes to catalog.
