Whenever I picture Tanzanian artist Malle, I get an astronomical picture; the moon and the Earth. The moon may be a golf ball compared to the earth but it’s of adamant importance when it comes to the survival of the earth. So is Malle when it comes to the survival of Bongo hip hop. And his new song ‘Ujamaa Shari’ speaks volumes on the above.
He touches on the rather sensitive matter of co-existence, deriving examples from religion and the current day society. What’s better is that as much as the lyrics are conscious, he avoids making the message boring via his well polished lyrics and rap delivery.
