Nigeria's new twins on the block are giving us all sorts of good vibes. Mdundo played catch up with Boybreed and everyone loves the lively contagious energy.

In a nutshell, who is Boy Breed?

Boybreed is a music duo/group comprised of Two good looking twin brothers and we make beautiful Afro infused music.

Why the name 'Boybreed'?

Lol.. We are a different breed of Boys

Did you two grow up having an interest in music? Was it mutual?

Yea, we always have. We grew up in the same environment and under the same circumstances so we both were mutually influenced.

What was your family's reaction on your choice to do music? Did they give you all the support?

Haha..We had to keep it secret for a while. Remember my Dad not allowing us go to the studio once. But they’ve finally come to terms with it and given us  100% support.

Was the collabo with Patoranking on the 'Slow Remix' your breakthrough song?

The song “Slowly” itself was our break through song. Patoranking just made it bigger!

With degrees in Electrical engineering and Chemical engineering respectively, do both of you still practice engineering when not doing music?

More like Sound Engineering!


You also do music production and graphic design, who are some of the artists you've worked with so far?

'Swimming Pool' is our first officially released co-production. But we work with countless number of artists in term of graphics and we make all our art materials.

What's the main message you always want to pass across through your music?

We think Love is the ultimate message. So we always try to encourage people to practice it.

Who are some of the artists that have greatly influenced your music career so far and why?

Hmm.. artists like Akon, Chris Brown helped us with creating Melodies. We Admire Bob Marley’s writing skills as well. And back in the day we also listened to a lot of rap music which also help with creating cool rhymes

Between Franklyn and Nnamdi, who is the most outgoing one and who is not? Do you have different personalities?

Namdy is a rascal!  Frank is an upcoming rascal

Is Nigerian music industry headed in the right direction? What's your opinion on the future of Nigerian music?

We’re so excited about how far our industry has come. And we can project in the next couple of years that we going even farther. Artists are reaping a lot more rewards for their hard work now.

Which African artists would you like to work with in future?

Would really love to work with Diamond Platnumz, Sauti Sol, Vanessa Mdee & R2Bees

How do you get along with each other since you are family members and professionals at the same time?

It’s the best feeling! Besides being brothers, we are also best friends and understand each other perfectly. Although we do have disagreements once in a while but we settle almost immediately. Helps the creative process too!

What's one thing that very few people (or none) know about you?

That we are single and searching

Where do you see yourselves in five years time, musically?

The dream is to take the African music to the whole world. And we see ourselves changing the world with our music.
