My Zambian culture

Zambias best dancehall and hiphop artist Benjamin Teyani Phiri A.K.A Tepizo. Well known for his hit singles (only one) and I swear which ft legendary k millian.. Running a record lable ndikantemya, believes he is the next big thing in Zambia he says he is just like any other best artist out there with a Soul of music. But what makes him unique is that he leads a cultural and traditional way of music which makes it more interesting.
After been interviewed TEPIZO said. " It was very shocking, just after I finished recording my single song titled, 'Onyoma' a lady walked into the studio and questioned me about that word. It was crystal clear that she knew the meaning. She had it in mind that was a Nigerian name.
The lady took her time and asked why didn't you use a Zambian name? Why do you neglect your culture? Why onyoma and not thokozile or chanda? I was so embarrassed because i vow to put my culture first in every move I take in the music industry.
And this is the problem we are having as zambians, a lot are ignorant about music we are interested in other people's culture, which I say to be wrong, if sarkordie managed to to push through with his culture who am I not to. We can appreciate other peoples talents but the most important thing we should learn, is to stand as zambians and unite with our music industry, we are all Africans so let's try and put up a tight competition and aim international".
The words from the woman where very touching that I felt someone believes in zambian music, someone believes in me, and I realised someone needs change. After her words I decided to redo the song and bring up the zed tune... (I love my culture). And if am going to make it I should carry my culture and ask fans To stop embracing other artists from other countries because without zambian music without. Slap d. Without macky 2 without muzo without Tepizo and every other artist out there we wouldn't have zambian music, so stand for us if u will still enjoy our music which goes to other artists. Personally I respect dorica song by chimz kelly and toliwe/rhoda by willz that's the spirit we need to make our dreams come true. Yes we the future of zambian music but I say the future is now..!!!! # ndikantemya
