ABOUT CHRIS MORGAN

Chris Morgan is a Nigerian gospel singer and songwriter. He was born on the 25th of May 1978 in Otukpo Benue state North Central Nigeria. He is also from Benue state, a native of Ipole-Igwu, Orokam in Ogbadibo local government area. He was born into the Christian family of Mr Christian Ochogwu and Mrs Regina Ochogwu and is the first of nine children.

Chris Morgan’s musical talent was discovered at the age of four. He recalled in an interview saying that his mum said that even when he cried, he cried in musical tones. When he was twelve, he was already a member of the Catholic Charismatic. According to him, he had an unusual encounter with God on the altar for three days. As a young child growing up from the age of twelve he was already helping his mother with her trade as he was selling groundnut and orange for her.

Chris Morgan did not have any musical background so it was not easy for him to get support and access to the musical instruments he really wanted. In a bid to get a hang of music, he once summoned the courage to ask a pharmacist who lived in their area for keyboard lessons. The pharmacist owned a keyboard and he was his best bet to learning how to play but the man turned him down and asked him to face his studies. Luck would fall into his palms when the same man now needed someone to manage his drug store while he was away. Chris took the applied and was employed. With him managing the business and now having access to the keyboard, he was able to learn how to play the basic keys just in time before the pharmacist returned from his journey.

To continue his musical journey, he joined the Charismatic Band and there he was able to learn how to play the bass guitar, lead guitar and the drums. He continued to grow musically and at the age of fifteen, he had already started writing his own songs. At the age of sixteen, he landed a big role which would take him to Lagos state as a music director for a church in Festac town. From then onwards he has progressed to becoming a very popular name in the Nigerian gospel music scene. He initiated “Worship on the Hills of Africa” committed to bringing people up to worship God in spirit and in truth.

Chris Morgan is happily married to his wife Queen Eunice who he met during a ministerial visit to Dunamis Gospel Centre Abuja where his now wife was a chorus leader. He described her voice as angelic and Holy Ghost inspired. Their marriage is blessed with two children, Samuel and Caleb Ochogwu.
