About Femi Okunuga

Minister Femi Okunuga carries with him a different aura in Nigeria’s music industry. He is an energetic artist who has already established himself among the elite of gospel ministers through singing.

He was born on January 8 in Epe, located in Lagos. While many of his peers chose a different path in life, he immersed himself in God’s ministry and found his calling. It all started in church as a chorister and led his team through days of worship. He discovered the bass guitar and would play it intelligently.

Through his moments as a worship leader, he started writing songs and graduated to a revered music producer in Nigeria. Signed to One Hallelujah Records, his musical work is a big blessing and is changing lives. One with the gift of God, and a worship leader par excellence, Femi Okunuga is well-known for his tremendous desire to bring the message of Christ of sacrifice to the world through music. He is the organizer of the Reconciliation Worship Concert. The event's musical performances encourage attendees to seek forgiveness and grow closer to Jesus Christ. Many artists also celebrate his talent in making powerful music.

His first song "Open Up the Heavens” came out in 2012 and set the stage for his years in music. This debut single was among the best hits he ever did in his career. He recorded a full debut studio album out of this single and named it ‘Open Up the Heavens’. A year later, he released another successful single “Emi Orun," and in 2014 came the critically praised worship hit "Only You’. The lyrics of the song remain relevant seven years after its release.

All this time, Femi Okunuga, was a household name. The three years of success inspired him to do better and quality music. He immersed himself deep in the word and his songs felt and sounded unique with every play. The Nigerian gospel minister says his forthright and humble nature portrayed in music drew many people closer to God. Following the release of ‘Only You’ in December 2015, he took to worship concerts for two years and solidified his fan base in Nigeria and beyond. Although he had such concerts before 2015, the two years - 2016 to 2018 – were his best in the ministry.

The highlight of the concert period was the release of the official music video for "Only You" in 2017. Femi followed it up with a new release ‘I Depend on You’ in January 2018. Christians all over West Africa pushed the single too high that the gospel minister decided to give them more music. Okunuga recorded his sophomore album ‘Undefeated God’ and released it in 2019. This 12-track album sampled his new inspiration and conviction in God.
Some of the famous artists Femi Okunuga has collaborated with include Tosin Bee, Bidemi Olaoba, Moses Onofeghara, Beejay Sax, Michael Akingbala and Kunle Ajayi. Other artists he worked with are Abigail and Uwana Etuk who performed live at the Ultima studios for the 77first-ever edition of Friends of Worship. He also collaborated with Nathaniel Bassey, Evangelist Bukola Bekes, Minister Efe Nathan, Odunayo Aboderin, and Funke Akinokun.

He has ministered in venues as diverse as the RCCG Redemption Camp, the Kenya International Christian Convention (KICC), and the Kingsword Conference. He led worship in the Dominion Cathedral in Egbeda, Lagos for the Redeemed Christian Church of God, where his debut album ‘Open Up’.
