Sheebah Karungi Vows to Use Music to Empower, Fight for Women Rights

Celebrated Ugandan artist Sheebah Karungi has vowed reach out and fight for women in abusive and violent relationships through her music.

Speaking during a recent interview, Sheebah noted that women are being ‘disrespected’ in the country, adding that she made it her personal business to fight for, and empower Ugandan women.

"God puts me in a position to interact with so many women. When I go to work, travel, my friends both married and unmarried and I realize one thing is common; they are being disrespected.

"On the low they may speak about it but they are really scared because in this country, a woman has to be married regardless of whether you are violated or not treated right. Personally, I'm coming up and I'm not going to stop. I'm going to fight for the ladies through music because I know what it means to be in such relationships," Sheebah told Spark TV.

Over her illustrious music career, the 'Team No Sleep' diva has always identified as a feminist and has been spreading inspiring messages to Ugandan women through her music.

In most of her songs, Sheebah preaches independence and the importance of working hard and being able to provide for yourself.

In Uganda, Sheebah commands a huge base and has thousands of young girls and ladies looking up to her. It is on this backdrop that she hopes to use her influence to create an impact among women especially those in abusive relationships.
