Swedish-based Rwandan musician Teta Diana has released a new EP dubbed ‘Umugwegwe’

The EP has four songs; Undi Munsi, Uzaze, Agashinge and Umugwegwe. Teta did the four songs in her usual traditional touch blended with other African beats.

Teta Diana has established her niche as a traditional singer joining Clarisse Karasira known for her wonderful traditional feel in her songs.

With ‘Umegwegwe’ the new fusion of beats is what makes the four songs outstanding. She brings out a different feel and vibe with the EP that’s all about inspiration and hope for the better in the future.

Teta’s inspiration to do the album came from the need to tell people the truth about life.

“The songs on this EP give hope and tell the true story of what I see and hear from people,” she notes.

In her song ‘Uzaze’ she talks about the myth that life is all rosy in Europe yet this is not the case. The truth is that things are pretty hard on the other side of the world but this is not told as often as it should be.

“Uzaze conveys a message to those who think Europe is heaven. It’s not because one has to endure the new culture which is not easy to adopt as many people think,” she told KT press.
