Driven by the zeal and power that ancient Rwandan Queen Nyabingi yielded, Rwandese songwriter and writer Calene Ingaire has released her debut EP dubbed ‘Nyabyinshi’.

Calene popularly known by her stage name Kaya has seven songs in her debut EP that is already on major digital platforms.

‘Nyabyinshi’ is a Rwandese phrase that loosely translates to ‘one who owns many’. Kaya hopes to own as many fans as she can with her new album.

“One of the things that the queen was known for was possessing a lot of things and sharing it with the people around her. I also believe that I am talented in many artistic ways in which people can find relief, fun, and peace of mind,” Kaya who doubles up as a communication specialist told the New Times.

The EP is made up of songs that include; ‘5Am’ ‘Gamble’ ‘You Know Waririz’ ‘Kami’ ‘Blurry’ ‘Uria Kaya’ and ‘Ibyejo’.

Being her first solo project, Kaya has achieved so much after years of performing live and doing beautiful cover songs.

She is a performer too who thrills with a lot of gusto. With extensive knowledge in communication, she holds that music is a powerful tool for dissemination of information.

She says the EP is basically to teach a life lesson to people to learn to appreciate what they have and pay attention to the important bits in life because that is what life should be all about.
