Tanzanian singer Alikiba continues to fly high thanks to his latest ‘Mediocre’ single.

The song released last week was received with controversy after fans alluded that the Kings Music boss was aiming a dig at Diamond Platnumz and Harmonize.

Despite the controversy, the song has shot up on some of the prestigious charts across Africa.

The track has now been ranked as the sixth-best song of September less than a week after its release.

The ranking was released by the African Music Promotion which recognizes notable songs from across the continent.

On the list, Alikiba was the only musician from Tanzania and East Africa to feature.

Nigeria’s Davido’s 'FEM' song was recognized as the leading track of the month, followed by Nomcebo's 'XolaMoyaWam' while Tembaby’s 'Damages' was ranked third.

'No Stress' by Wizkid occupied the fourth spot followed by 'To Whom It May Concern' by South Africa’s Casper Nyovest.

Ghana’s Yowtog was ranked seventh with his ‘Sore’ single. Nigeria’s Mr. Eazi took the eighth spot with ‘Oh My Gawd’. Zimbabwe’s Buffalo Souja occupies the ninth spot with his ‘Family’ single while Ghana’s Sarkodie is tenth with ‘Gimmie Way’.

By press time the ‘Mediocre’ single had garnered at least 1.5 million views on YouTube in just five days.

‘Mediocre’ is currently the top song song on Mdundo Tanzania Top 10 weekly chart.
