Elani are still serving us new videos off their sophomore album ‘Colours of Love’. They have been taking us through different phases of love; meeting, falling in love, losing love and that entire shenanigan. Their latest single is ‘Nimejaribu’.

‘Nimejaribu’ is the first single off the black phase of love; the heartbreak. It is a beautiful ballad song telling the story of trying to forget a lover after a break-up. The Eric Musyoka produced single is very minimalistic on the instrumentation; very signature to the ballads he produces. The single is very stoic with just a piano as the basis of every other layering of the single.

For their explanation, Elani had this to say about the single, “Nimejaribu continues the journey of Colours of Love. The song captures the despair, heart break, frustration, struggle and realization that one has tried their best to make the relationship work but it’s impossible to do. Nimejaribu kicks off the black phase of love...a time full of anger, resentment, unhappiness and depression.”

The video is a great translation of the lyrics and this particular phase of love. Elani are endowed in black clad and the video is on full black/grey scale. Their video model comes in exercising, in a way running and trying to find her way out of an abandoned house; probably representative of trying to find a way out of pain and frustration.
