Kofi Kinaata, First Artiste to Win ‘Songwriter of the Year Award’ Thrice in VGMA

Renowned Ghanaian rapper and song writer Kofi Kinaata has broken the record by becoming the first artiste to win a particular Vodafone Ghana Music Award three times.

Kofi King Arthur popularly known by his professional name as Kofi Kinaata has once again become the VGMA21 song writer of the year. He set this record after his hit song ‘Things Fall Apart’ emerged winner of the ‘Songwriter Of The Year’ category at this year’s virtual award ceremony. In the process, the young and first growing artist managed to beat his fellow colleagues such as; Okyeame Kwame, King Promise, Lamisi, Epixode, Diana Hamiliton and Akwaboah, who were also eyeing the same award.

Similar artiste who have won this award more than once are Okyeama Kwame and Kojo Antwi, who managed to win the award two times. Therefore, Kofi Kinaata broke the record, when he won the award for the third time. His songs ‘Confession’ and ‘Susuka’ won him the ‘Songwriter Of The Year Award’ in the years 2017 and 2016 respectively.

While expressing gratitude and excitement, the ‘Thing Fall Apart’ hitmaker took to his twitter handle and wrote: “First time in the history of #VGMAs! An artiste has won this Songwriter Award for the 3rd time ?????+?????= 3 Thanks to God! ???????? Thanks to all my fans worldwide. #TeamMooove”
