Tanzanian rapper Wakazi has expressed concern over a recent reorganization of government, where President John Magufuli moved the Copyright Society of Tanzania(COSOTA) from the Ministry of Industry and Trade to the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports.

According to Wakazi, the government ought to have improved the infrastructure and provided proper amenities for COSOTA to function appropriately, rather than moving it from one ministry to the other.

Wakazi argues that provision of workshops to educate artistes and industry stakeholders would help better the role of COSOTA.

Two weeks ago, President Magufuli promised to move COSOTA to another ministry to handle the affairs of the artistes in Tanzania.

The president believes that local artistes will be appreciated better under the Ministry of Information under the leadership of Harrison Mwakyembe.

“…. COSOTA… Imesota mno huko, nimeshahagiza waziri mkuu ameshaniletea barua nimesign… Nataka niwaahidi wasanii leo ni Jumapili kabla ifike Jumapili inafuata, nitakuwa nimemaliza hii shughuli… ili hawa vijana waweze kufaidika na usani wao wameteseka siku nyingi, hawawezi kuendelea kuteseka chini ya Chama Cha Mapinduzi,” he said
