Kenya’s number one trending video on YouTube ‘Wanani’ by Bahati is back online, after it was deleted a few days ago over copyright issues.

The video had been pulled down following a complaint by Jivu an Afro Fusion group.

While announcing that the video had been re-uploaded, Bahati mocked fellow musicians noting that despite his video being offline for almost two days, it is still back at number one.

He questioned whether musicians had stopped producing new music.

“Kwani Wasanii Hamtoi Songs??? My New Song #Totositoto Was off YouTube for Like 48 Hrs but Bado Nimerudi Top Trending Keep Watching,” he posted on Instagram.

Unlike most of Bahati’s songs which focus on the gospel, ‘Wanani’ focused on Love.

The move to do something different elicited a lot of reactions with many questioning whether Bahati was ditching gospel music for secular.

He, however, noted that the song was meant to cater to some of his fans who need encouragement especially in love matters.

“Kwa wimbo wangu mpya ‘Wanani’ I just wanted to do something tofauti kiasi, sababu nina mafans tofauti tofauti. Kuna mafans ambao nawafeed kiroho na kuna mafans ambao pia wanafaa kuwa encouraged in terms of love issues, sababu mapenzi ni maisha yetu ya kila siku. So I just did something unique,” he said during an interview with Mzazi Willy M Tuva.

Explaining why he did not have his wife Diana play the role of video vixen, yet the song seems like it was written for her, Bahati said Diana has featured in a number of his videos, and as such he wanted something different, that not many people expected.
