Ghanaian Rapper Micheal Owusu Addo known in the entertainment industry as Sarkodie has in a series of tweets descended heavily on African leaders for being complacent with the attacks on the black race.

His rants follow the anti-racism protests and the Black Lives Matter movement taking place across the world following the death of African-American, George Floyd who was killed by a white policeman. Taking to his social media handle to express his dissatisfaction, Sarkodie accused African leaders of selling their power to the Europeans, Americans, and Asians.
According to him, Africans since time immemorial have never been respected by the developed countries and that is partly due to the respect our leaders have lost. He accused African leaders of chasing after the ‘Brown paper bag,’ instead of uniting saying till such a time, the attacks against blacks won’t stop.

“A lot of bullies target the vulnerable (weak, poor, no home, no family, etc)…And that’s the story of Africa. Till we fix our home ‘together,’ no black man is safe in the world…We lost our pride…The black race is an easy target cos of the perception they have about us…Till our leaders hold their ground and gain back the respect we deserve, we will always be an easy target.”

“Africa has all it takes to be ‘cocky,’ but they strip our confidence and ‘belief in self’ with the #BrownPaperBag. Our brother George Floyd’s situation is a typical scenario of a bully (police) and child (George) from a broken home (Africa). No one to fight for, an easy target. Again: until our leaders stop chasing the #BrownPaperBag and stand strong for us, I’m sorry this isn’t stopping,” he stated.

Urging Africans to unite and fight for the same cause, Sarkodie said the world should be bowing before Africa and not the other way round. He stated “They dare not touch certain race. The world should be bowing down to Africa but it’s up to us to unite and take our power back!! Africa Unite.”
