Celebrated Kenyan musician Willy Paul has gone back to his gospel music roots and blessed us with a new jam dubbed ‘Wema’ featuring Gloria Muliro.

‘Wema’ is a praise song that Willy Paul and Gloria use to appreciate the Lord for His numerous blessings and the favour He has bestowed upon them.

The song is also a prayer, when the duo request God to extend the blessings bestowed upon them to other people.

In ‘Wema’, Willy Paul narrates the struggles that God helped him overcome, making him a renowned person in society, thus the need to thank God.

“Sikuwahi jua kijana wa Mathare wa Salome ange heshimika Mungu wangu ni Fire Fire… Ulichuna shida zangu…  Nakumbuka mi nikiwa houseboy, ulisema tuliza my boy, hata kama hizi mashida zilinifollow back to back Mungu wangu nlikuamini,” the song’s lyrics read in part.

‘Wema’ comes at a time when Willy Paul has been receiving a lot of criticism for ditching the gospel music industry.

A number of gospel artistes have urged him to consider going back to his original calling which was to sing praises to the Lord.

Meanwhile, it is worth noting that Willy Paul’s major breakthrough came several years ago, when he collaborated with Gloria Muliro for ‘Sitolia’.

As to whether this is his turning point, only time will tell.
