Ugandan music fans are always proud when their artistes are selected to perform and represent the country in international concerts.

One complaint, however, has been the short period of time they are given to sing their music.

Over the weekend, Ykee Benda performed at a continental virtual concert dubbed 'Hope for Africa Concert’, and shortly after his performance, fans questioned why he performed for a few minutes.

Explaining reason behind his short performance, the self-styled Boy So Tender, noted that every artiste, regardless of his class, was given only five minutes to present their song.

"They wanted us to carry a message of hope to our fans across Africa. We agreed and they gave us the time they wanted us to do it. By May, we had to be ready with our team and the way we are to perform. They had already paid us a deposit. We are many artistes and everyone, regardless of who you are, was given five minutes,"Ykee Benda said.

He performed his famous collaboration with A Pass titled 'Turn Up Di Vibe' seated in his Mpaka Records studios. With his smooth vocals, Ykee Benda nailed the performance.

He believes that his performance at the concert means so much to him and the entire Ugandan music industry.

"I have been international and this has pushed me a little higher," Ykee said.

'Hope For Africa Concert' was organised by One Africa Music Fest in partnership with MultiChoice and it was meant to honour and thank African frontline workers for the job well done in the fight against the Corona Virus pandemic.

It is also aimed to raise funds to purchase testing equipment and 54 million pieces of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) that will be distributed to every single African country.

Other international artistes that featured on thie concert include; Nigeria's Davido, Tiwa Savage, Cobhams Asquo, Tekno, 2 Baba, Falz, Mr Flavour, Angola's Cabo Snoop, Rwanda's The Ben, Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie among others
