Award-winning Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Stonebwoy, has said that he will consider going into weed farming since the government has seen the need to sanction the commercialization of the herb.
According to Stonebwoy while he was speaking on Accra-based Hitz FM, he believes that government has evaluated the product and has come to the conclusion that it a viable venture hence the decision to legalize its usage for medicinal purpose and its commercialization.

”Once the government that regulates the use of marijuana has legalized the cultivation because it knows the purpose and why somethings have to happen. The government will not just commercialize the export of marijuana, they did it because they know how viable it is so as a private businessman if I look at it and it’s viable why not?" he noted.

Ghana has legalized the use of cannabis for health and industrial purposes. This is after Parliament passed the Narcotics Control Commission Bill, 2019 on Friday (March 20, 2020). Social media was awash with posts hailing the decision.

The new law empowers the Minister for Interior to grant licences for the cultivation of cannabis of not more than 0.3 percent THC, the main psychoactive compound in cannabis that gives the users a high sensation, for industrial and medicinal purposes.

MyNewsGh.com reports that the law also makes the country’s Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) a Commission with enhanced powers to oversee the industrial use of some narcotic substances.
