Stonebwoy Promised a Seat at the Table of Government Decision Makers
The minister of Information Kojo Oppong Nkuruma recently promised Ghanaian top artist a seat at the table of the government decision making after the covid-19 dust settles. This took place during a recent live instagram question and answer session.
Hon. Oppong seemed to be very concerned about the challenges that the music & creative arts industry face and sought to finds possible ways that his government can help. The minister continued to say that his ministry has found a way of supporting artists to make a lot of values as well as spread their wings globally. He continued to tell stonebwoy “One of the things I think we need to do is to encourage you guys to diversify your revenue portfolios.
A lot of our artistes are very reliant on shows (concerts).” In response Stonebwoy told the minister that there was only one stream of income in the industry hence making it hard for the artists to diversify income in the industry.
It was after this response that the information minister promised to call for a stakeholders meeting with the Tourism, Arts and Culture minister Mrs Babara Oteng Gyasi, Stonebwoy and other key industry players when the covid -19 dust settles.
This would be the perfect podium for Stonebwoy to intercede for his fellow artist to the relevant stakeholders to better the situation in the industry in the coming days.
