Celebrated Kenyan gospel musician Bahati has shut down his EMB record label, after over 4 years of being in operation.

In a YouTube video, Bahati noted that he had reached the tough decision after a lot of prayers, and meditation.

He noted that the gospel industry is currently in bad shape, adding that some artistes have made their mission to fight him, and his record label.

According to him, he claims that some artistes think that his record label is making lots of money, a thing that has forced them to sow hatred against him.

“Kenya has the supportive musicians, but in the gospel scene; an industry you would expect to see God and the real reflection of how Christ should be, most of these artists started thinking and getting jealous saying I was successful because of the EMB Record label forgetting that God has been blessing me. I am a child of God. Being at the top is by God’s grace,” he said.

He noted that over the past few years, a number of musicians having been bad mouthing, and turning his EMB signings against him.

"For me, this was ministry. What is the point of doing this ministry when the ministry is being translated in a bad way, always, leaving you with a bad name? Is there any need to do this? As we speak in the country, for the last year or two, I've become one of the most talked-about artists, and I have become one of the artists receiving a lot of hate despite being on top and all that. The people I gave a chance when no one knew them, they are now converting people to become my biggest haters," he stated.

He said that despite shutting down the label, he will continue supporting Deno; one of the artistes he had signed in a few months back.
