Legendary Ghanaian sound engineer, Zapp Mallet, has taken a swipe at Ghana’s celebrated rapper, Sarkodie, for pairing him with some music producers he considers are not in his category.

For the past few days, there has been a current trend on Ghanaian Twitter where music producers and musicians, old and new, challenge each other to hits they have as a way of calming down nerves in this era of COVID-19.

To be part of this new conversation, Sarkodie decided to call on some award-winning music producers to also jump on this challenge in Ghana. The rapper called on producers such as, Zapp Mallet, Jay Q, Appietus; Kaywa, Hammer, and MoG to also come and battle it out.

But it seems this did not go well with Mallet who was not happy for being paired with these young music producers taking into consideration how long he has been in the game and his contribution.

"There is something called respect which is lacking in Ghana today. For instance, you don't compare somebody who was churning out hits before you made Kindergarten with your mate who just started a couple of years back. Show some respect, You will also get there,” Zapp Mallet posted on Twitter.

Born in May 1964, Emmanuel ‘Zapp’ Mallet is recognized as one of the pioneers of the hiplife genre that started in the early 1990s in Ghana.
