Jojo has been a darling to many people since she was 13, topping the charts and touring with big artists at the time such as Usher. She faced many problems thereafter with her then record label and with a bit of addiction. It is only after 10 years and now 13 years after all that that she is able to open up and talk about her woes.

Jojo was signed by the late Aaliyah’s uncle who later on run down his record label. Jojo was however still stuck with him because of her contract with the record label. It was only after two lawyers that she was able to get out of the contract and get back rights to her own voice because the record label owned her voice and all the rights to her music.

Despite having number one singles with ‘Get Out’ and ‘Too Little Too Late’ while still a teenager, Jojo was frustrated and she was constantly looking for a way out and only found it a decade later.

In 2016, she released her first studio album in 10 years titled ‘Mad Love’ signed to Atlantic Records. She later re-recorded her first two albums, ‘High Road’ and ‘Jojo’ that went went on to top the charts on iTunes. She also won a Grammy in 2020 for the Best R&B single with PJ Morton for their single ‘Say So’.

She is hoping to release her second album later on in the year and she promises to get a lot vulnerable and soulful. With one of the greatest voice in the industry, we cannot wait to listen to Jojo’s new album.
