The announcement of a new music reality TV show by MTN Nigeria, Y’ello Star, promises to be the game-changer that the Nigerian music industry needs. This was announced on Sunday, February 16th, 2020, as celebs posing behind a live version of a backdrop that made rounds earlier in the week on both social media and on billboards across the country.

The show is tailored for promising Nigerian musicians as it provides a lifetime opportunity to showcase their musical gifts to the world while providing unique, quality and engaging content to the masses. The show has been planned to kickstart later in the month as additions and reparations are being done at centers in Abuja, Port Harcourt, and Lagos. Selected participants who have the required skills will be Flown to Lagos for further training as the show airs.

Entertainment industry icons including globally acclaimed Disc Jockey and TV host, Tim Westwood, star actress, Nse Ikpe Etim, Veteran broadcaster, Olisa Adibua, popular on-air-personality, Emmanuel ‘Nedu’ Ani, award-winning singer, Chidinma Ekile, Hafeez ‘Saka’ Oyetoro among others were at the event to witness the historic announcement.

In 2016, MTN let go of its role as main sponsor of Project Fame some of the speculations was that the talent show was finding it hard to find talents as it neared its demise. Others felt that the House and the housemates grew boring over time and could have done with some more drama.

If a lack of talent was the reason as speculated for pulling the curtain over MTN Project Fame in 2016, then 4 years later then now for sure there is bound to be a fresh crop of talents looking forward to be a part of this new show.
