Sean Paul really did find a way to make the dancehall genre a pop genre and this is no different with his new song featuring Tove Lo that is dubbed ‘Calling On Me’.

‘Calling On Me’ is a beautiful love song about being there for people we love with the same trust they will be there for us.

The song is a perfect representation of what these two are about in the context of genres. It has a heavy pop sound that draws back to a dancehall bop with less busy instrumentation. Tove Lo marries well with the heavy instrumentation to belt out the chorus but still maintain her well rounded nostalgic voice. Sean Paul sings in this song more than he raps which is still very beautiful.

The video is a one scene video with projected screens that have changing backgrounds probably to show the changing seasons in line with the song. Both Tove Lo and Sean Paul are dressed in white but this does not work too hard to light up the video which has its lighting fully dependent on the projected screens.

It is a beautiful bop and will probably find itself on heavy rotation everywhere. Catch a vibe with Sean Paul and Tove Lo on ‘Calling On Me’.
