About Limoblaze

Limoblaze wears multi-genre hats in Nigeria’s gospel industry. But, it is his hip hop that stands out much as he has a history with Afro-gospel style too. For a 27-year-old to be this immersed in the ministry, the conviction must be very deep. Let’s start with his biography.

On 25 September 1995, Samuel Onwubiko came to the world. His parents lived in Bende local government, Abia State but he grew up with his seven siblings in Makurdi-Benue State. Going to church was not negotiable in his family and that is something he remains grateful for. Limoblaze loved everything about his local church choir and hoped that he would one day be as great as the choir members.

At the age of 8, Limoblaze realized that hip-hop fascinated him more than any other genre. Then, his favourite artists were American rappers 50 Cent, Eminem, and Tupac. Limoblaze knew that getting to their level is a herculean task but more importantly, that he would never get there without starting. Inspired by the American trio the youngster found his own musical voice. Astonishingly, Limoblaze decided to revolutionize gospel music by rapping, something quite rare in the Nigerian gospel scene.

Limoblaze continued to mature and come into his own as a lyricist as he aged and he switched to other born-again Christian rap artists such as Andy Mineo, Lecrae, Tedashii, Da Truth, and The Ambassador among others. These rap artists sharpened his songwriting techniques and lyricism which he flaunted during his days at the Federal University of Agriculture Makurdi where he studied Biochemistry. Members of Day Star Church couldn’t have enough of his music which built his confidence and faith. Limoblaze resolved to use music as a medium for ministry and his songs became a source of hope for many people.

His first song, "Memories," which he dedicated to his friends after they graduated from high school, marked the beginning of his official career as an independent and unsigned musician in 2014. Everyone who listened to his debut song was in complete agreement that it was great. As a result, Limoblaze was greatly inspired to record additional incredible songs, like Grace, Unconditional, Wrong Ways, among others. All through, the ‘Jireh’ hitmaker strived to get better and reach more souls with his music. Limoblaze directly incorporates his Christian faith into his music, and he has a unique and adaptable production technique that results in beautiful musical acts.

His debut album ‘Blind’ released in 2016 brought to the fore his lyrical and production prowess. Limoblaze followed it up with his sophomore album ‘Before Now’ in 2018. Th The reception was astounding and he quickly got back to the studio and came up with his third album ‘Afrobeats Raps & Jesus’ released in 2019. As Nigeria grappled with the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 he ventured out with a new EP ‘The Wait’ which set the mood for his studio album ‘Da T.R.U.T.H’ with seemingly apt lyrics for each song.

This is the best album that made him a global gospel powerhouse. He gained recognition from all over Africa and internationally. It cemented his collaboration with brilliant international gospel artists such as Ada Ehi and Travis Greene. The 27-year-old did numerous studio sessions with these artists and he effortlessly blends his Christian beliefs with a trendy adaptable style you want to listen to repeatedly.
