Who is Kawu Dan Sarki?

Muhammad Sale, popularly known as Kawu Dan Sarki, is a  Nigerian Afropop singer and songwriter. He was born and raised in Kano state, Nigeria. The Afrobeat star developed an interest in music at a very early age. He, however, officially ventured into music after completing his education.

The youngster’s activity on YouTube dates back to January 2021 when he released his debut single ‘Kece Sila’.  The song which was released in audio format at the time enjoyed a warm reception among the fans. It gained thousands of views and streams on various platforms such as YouTube. It was not until May 2022 that Kawu Dan Sarki released the video for the song. The video rekindled the song’s virality. In less than half a year, the ‘In Gallo’ music video had gained approximately 2.8 million views on YouTube with over 500 comments. The song has been featured on various trending music charts and playlists across Africa.

Prior to releasing ‘In Gallo’, Kawu Dan Sarki’s most viral song was ‘Cikona Burina’ which was released in late 2021. The song had over one and a half million views on YouTube. 

The singer’s breakthrough established him as one of the most sought-after Nigerian music sensations. He received a lot of bookings to entertain at top events. His gradual growth and consistency led him to become one of the top-ranking Nigerian music stars.

As of 9th September 2022, Kawu Dan Sarki had approximately 141,000 subscribers on YouTube with a total of 23.5 million cumulative views. The above analytics was drawn from a total of 94 published videos on his official YouTube channel.

The one crucial factor that contributed immensely to his growth into stardom, apart from hard work and consistency, was the artist’s unique style of music. The singer’s vocals, melody, and flow were super unique and could hardly be emulated.
