Who is DJ YLB and how old is he?

Genes Paul Massawe, famously known as DJ YLB International was born on the 4th of February of the year 1996 in Kilimanjaro region, Rombo district. He studied at Reha primary school and later joined Urauri secondary school in Reha Tanzania.

Genes Paul Massawe alias DJ YLB was a celebrated gospel music Dj from Tanzania. He officially started his career as a DJ in 2014 in Dar Es Salaam Tanzania. Thus, he is proud to have more than seven years of experience in this work. DJ YLB is known for playing in different clubs in Tanzania. He is one of the best DJs in Tanzania and East Africa.

YLB remembers loving music from childhood to his school days. He used to organize school parties and events that involved playing music. Later, when he moved to Dar Es Salaam, his love for music grew further as he interacted with his friends they were learning to make beats on laptops and he joined them but as time went by, he realized he was more inclined to play music- being a Disk Jockey. He opted to learn the craft by downloading a DJ application on his phone.

At some point, most of his mixes were those of gospel music.Later on, he managed to interact with some people in the entertainment industry who gave him the opportunity to better his talent as DJ professionally. He later started getting small shows at clubs, lounges, hotels and even radio shows among others.
After a long hustle Dj YLB got a deal to be a resident DJ at Wasafi Media which was a game changer that got him major recognition in Tanzania. Initially, he started as a Dj who solely played gospel music but chose to diversify his craft by playing all kinds of music. Today, DJ YLB boasts of a better career working at the Diamond Platnumz-owned media station Wasafi Fm.

Further, as a Dj Mr Massawe apart from playing in clubs has also been blessed to work with several radio and television stations such as; E FM and E TV. There was a time when he also did a live mix on KTN Kenya television. Besides recording shows, DJ YLB is the head of the music department at Wasafi media. He is also the one who organizes all the playlists used by Wasafi TV.

In recent years, many East African artists have embraced the digital era and do their work online by publishing their music for the online community. Dj’s like YLB have got opportunities to sample various music and create mixes that are later uploaded on various applications for their audiences to download and have them make some money for their work. One of the great online music platforms where this is happening is Mdundo.com.
