Who is Erigga?

Erhiga Agarivbie, popularly known as Erigga, is a Nigerian singer, rapper, and songwriter. He was born on 30th March 1987 in Warri, Delta State, Nigeria. The singer spent a better part of his childhood in Delta State where he also received his early education.

Erigga officially ventured into music in late 2010 with his first track dubbed 'Dem No Get Two Heads.' The song became an instant hit and won the hearts of many. The success that stemmed from the song laid a strong foundation for the singer's music career. Approximately a year after the release, Erigga dominated the airwaves courtesy of his hit song ‘Mo Street Gan’.

The rapper's successful record continued in 2013 with the release of his song titled 'Coupé Décalé' featuring Shuun Bebe. 'Coupé Décalé' equally became an anthem across media stations in Nigeria. It gained thousands of views and streams on various music streaming platforms such as YouTube. He followed it up with another song titled 'Love No Be Garri' in early 2016 featuring Jimoh Waxiu. The consistency and success of his songs gradually cemented his reputation as one of the most sought-after Nigerian star musicians.

On 17th July 2017, Erigga released his debut album 'A Trip To The South.' The 14-track album featured some of the top names on the Nigerian music scene including Orezi, Duncan Mighty, Skales, and others. The album was received warmly by the fans and performed incredibly well.

In May 2018, Erigga decorated headlines thanks to his viral track dubbed ‘Motivation’ featuring Victor D. The youngster through a melodious voice served as a carrier of hope and encouragement in the song. ‘Motivation’ gained millions of views on YouTube and climbed up the ranks to occupy top spots on various music charts. Following the success of the song, the rapper gifted his fans with the highly awaited ‘The Erigma 2’ album. The album which housed 18 songs featured appearances from top artists such as Zlatan, Victor AD, Magnito, MI Abaga, Ice Prince, and Vector. The album was produced by renowned music producer Mr Nolimit.

Apart from the two albums, the singer also had other top music projects including; ‘The Erigma’, ‘Okorowanta’, and ‘Before The Chaos EP’. These projects and his other top songs saw Erigga get nominated for prestigious awards such as The Headies in 2019 and 2012 in the categories of; Best Street-Hop Artiste and Lyricist on the Roll.

Erigga has risen to become one of the most famous and celebrated artists in the rap industry, not just in Nigeria but across the whole of Africa. Aside from music, the rapper is also a talented basketballer. His contribution to the growth of the Nigerian music industry is notable. The singer’s admirable and unique talent has seen him serve as a role model to many upcoming music stars who emulate him.
