KENYA: Sauti Sol Revered as African Fashion Icons at UK Museum Fashion Exhibition

From a more modern and daring style like the ‘mosquito nets’ they were once trolled for wearing, to the traditional suit look, one has to say Sauti Sol’s fashion sense is totally unpredictable and indeed one of a kind.

While the once began as just mere talented singers, it is their look and style of dressing that has turned them into absolute super stars.

Today we recognize not only as Afropop icons, but also as sex symbols (thanks to their ‘Nishike’ video) as well as fashion idols.

And now it seems so does the rest of the world.

Yesterday, the group announced through their social media pages that they were immortalized as African fashion icons at a global scale when they were featured in the first major UK exhibition dedicated to contemporary African fashion at Brighton Museum & Art Gallery.

"We're super honored to have our picture and style featured on the #FashionCitiesAfrica exhibition at Brighton Museum & Art Gallery. This is the first major UK exhibition dedicated to contemporary African fashion. We wore the outfits last year during our #CokeStudioAfrica performance with @yemialade"

The exhibition aimed at exploring fashion style choices of individual ‘fashion agents’ from four African cities in Morocco, Nigeria, Nairobi and South Africa. It featured Sauti Sol's choice of dressing during their performance at last year's Coke Studio Africa Season 3 alongside Yemi Alade.

Well it seems that the blessings just keep on coming for Sauti Sol as they continue to make not just Kenya but the rest of the continent proud.
